Carewise
It is estimated that there are as many as 50,000 Young Carers under the age of 18 who provide a substantial amount of caring to someone at home. The caring responsibility can be very detrimental towards the Social, Emotional, Educational and Health of Young People.
Carewise is an exciting new project for North Devon. it is being developed to raise the awareness of Young Carers, the issues affecting them and to identify who Young Carers are and provide a support service based on individual need.
The project is a partnership between Torridge Voluntary Services and Social Services, funding has been obtained from the General Consortium on Opportunities for Volunteering to fund a worker.
Carewise aims to offer support to Young Carers through the use of committed and trained Volunteers, who would offer a range of practical skills combined with social and emotional support.
