Bradworthy News - April 2001

Dog walking, by Tony Dilnot

Recently one or two people have asked me if they could walk their dogs in the woods at Berridon. This is as a result of the footpaths and various open spaces round the village being closed due to the foot and mouth crisis.

As it happens work started on a new water main to South Hill just before the exclusion zone was extended to Bradworthy. The new main will cross the land from "Tamar Lodges" at Berridon out to the road. Unfortunately the contractors cannot now return to the site and lay the pipe to finish the work. Until they do we are left with a long, deep and, in places, unstable trench so I cannot allow access to our woods.

I understand, however, that the community wood is unrestricted as it is surrounded by a deer proof fence. Access to the car park is opposite South Hill farm yard
