This year as Bradworthy Carnival Queen, for me, has been great. In July, we had Whitstone and Bridgerule carnivals one week after the other and then Hartland and Bude at the beginning of August. All four were brilliant with prizes being won at Whitstone, Bude and Hartland. Just in those four Carnivals, we got Best Float, third for Best Group, Queen of Queens and second for Best Queen. It was a great atmosphere at all these carnivals and it was very enjoyable going round. Hartland had a great atmosphere and you really felt welcome.
At the end of August, I also had the privilege of giving a bouquet to Mrs Balsdon at the fair. At the beginning of September was Bideford Carnival. We got Highly Commended for Best Float. It was a great atmosphere there and listening to the music and the people around was really good and made us enjoy it even more. We went home feeling great.
Then came Okehampton Carnival at the beginning of October. That one was fun. People seemed to enjoy us a lot.
Then came Hatherleigh carnival. That one was good. It was busy and a lot of floats went around and it seemed like the proper town carnival.
Holsworthy wasn't long after. That one was great and it was nice to see people around who I knew. We did well in that carnival as we managed to get the trophy for the Best Decorated Float. It was a great atmosphere there and good to see people clapping you past.
The next week came Launston Carnival. That one was good and had a good atmosphere. We got claps past in that Carnival too.
In May we have Torrington Carnival too.
I would recommend this role to anyone as it is a great chance to get out and do something on your Saturday night. It is great if you don't mind dressing up and you like being infront of people. This is a great experience so take the chance. We enjoyed it a lot.
To finish off, I would like to thank everyone who took part in this. Especially I would like to thank Bryony Dorrington for making the dresses, Dad for taking us round, Gemma Gazzard and Meghan Dilnot for being my attendants and my brothers for filling in. Also, thanks to everyone who helped with the float.
