Bradworthy News - March 2001

Methodist Church, by Clive Smale

I write an open letter on behalf of the Church.

It was with a degree of sadness that 1 read the letter from Mr Bryant in last month's edition concerning the funeral service of the late Mrs Beryl Colwill.

The functioning or otherwise of our public address system and its facility to relay to the Schoolroom is not, of course, the responsibility of the funeral director.

Apologies were made direct to the family at the time, and we offer them again openly to the family and everyone affected by the failure of the relay provision.

We are more blessed than many Chapels and Churches in that we have the facility to relay audibly what is happening in the Chapel. Unfortunately all equipment is prone to let the user down, and always it seems at a critical moment.

The system had been switched on and checked in the morning and so there was no reason to suppose that it wouldn't be working in the afternoon.

The offending fault has been detected and rectified by a technician and so we hope that it will not re-occur. However as we all know, nothing in this world is absolutely perfect and everything and every one of us are prone to fail and be the cause of disappointment.

Again, many apologies to all for this unavoidable failure.
