Bradworthy News - March 2001

Farming matters, by Richard Boughton

At the time of writing this we have just heard about the foot and mouth outbreak at Highampton, so there is no telling what the situation will be by the time you read this. We have to hope and pray that it does not spread to Bradworthy. There is little point in me commenting further as events will have moved on when you read this.

The recent fine weather has enabled us to spread the first application of fertiliser on most of the silage and grazing fields. We have also been able to get some slurry out. We are still milking three times a day and the cows are continuing to milk well, so we will continue three times a day until turnout.

As I have rather more important things to worry about at the moment this month's contribution is shorter than usual. Let us hope that next month we can be more cheerful.
