Bradworthy News - February 2001

Computer club, by Phil Mayhall

Internet life

Every thought it was time you got hooked up to the internet? Well, once you are you'll be able to receive exciting e-mails like the one I received a couple of weeks ago…

good evening mr mayhall,

me and mrs r are sitting here looking at the lovely bradworthy web site, we had a shock at the photo on the dates for your diary page. we won't be able to sleep soundly again and we most certainly will not be going there again spooky.

love ??

Sooner or later they'll find the CapsLock key! Or this one…

Just testing me e-mail facilities on newscientist.net

I keep telling him it's time he joined oldscientist.net instead, but you know Eric! Then there was this one from Texas, commenting on my report of snow in Bradworthy for the first time for many, many moons.

I keep intending to write you about our 20+ inches of snow at Christmas time. After three mild winters it was quite a shock for our fair city. Lots of ice on trees and on streets and still lots of snow on the ground. We are having one of those winters like I remember looking back over the years. We can and do have severe winters every few years and have just been lucky of late.

Then there was this from Kat, which I forgot to do…

Not sure if this will ever actually get to you 'cos me + technology don't go well together after an all-night/early morning drinking spree!

If possible, in the new year type edition, could you put in a little message from me to all my friends + family? Something really cheesy wishing them a happy new year and re-assuring them that I haven't quite turned into a foreigner yet! Have a "Feliz Navidad"

Occasionally I get one that is meaningful, such as this on…

Dear Sir, I am making a trip to Southern England in late April. I have been able to trace my family tree to Bradworthy 1745 ,a Mr.Wm. Courtice. I was wondering if there are any of my relatives are still in the area. Yours truly, Noel Courtice.

If anyone can help, let me know.
