Trip of a lifetime. by Kath Guard

Arrived at hotel at Heathrow Friday 13th October, very nervous - crying.

Flew from Heathrow to Lima via Madrid on 14th October. One night spent in Lima.

15th October Lima to Cusco, where we had a couple of days to get used to the altitude. Cusco is 3600m above sea level.

Started the trek on Tuesday 17th October. Trekked for 3½ days along the Inca Trail. Stayed at a different camp sit each night. Got to the lost city of Machu Pichu on 20th October.

On Saturday 21srt October we had a gala night to receive our awards. Truda from Vets In Practice was there, also doing some fundraising.

During the trek loads of people were affected by the altitude - it's like a sickness bug - but I was lucky and escaped it.

The trek was really hard work, the scenery amazing. The unforgettable trip of a lifetime.

Thanks to all the people who supported me, especially the ladies who helped with the Sunday Lunch. Special thanks to Mum and Dad.

I raised a total of £2,800 and the Children's Society hopes to raise a total of £1.5 million by next year.
