Parish Council report, by Paul Clarke

Policing

Bradworthy Parish Council welcomed Sgt. Sally Crabtree to the October Meeting for a general discussion of matters concerning Bradworthy. Reported crime had risen from 19 cases in 1998/1999 to 24 in the last year. Two house break-ins and eight 'shed' incidents were reported but 'car crime' was the main item. Sgt. Crabtree stressed the need to removed articles of value from motor vehicles and to keep them locked to discourage theft. Vigilance and Security must be the watchword. The amount of police time being given to the Bradworthy area had increased and Community Constable WPC Amanda Brown has made good contacts especially with the youngsters. It was hoped to organise patrols in the area at times when indiscriminate parking and traffic speeding is detrimental to the community in Bradworthy.

Mobile lengthsmen

The County Council plans to work in the Parish during the weeks beginning 20th November and 5th March mainly to clear roadside ditches and drains. Any particular, problem areas should be reported to Cllr. Sheila Wright, the Local Contact at least 5 days beforehand so that the best use can be made of the limited time available to the lengthsmen.
