Bradworthy News - June 2000

Correspondence, from Tony Dilnot

Dear Ed

I was interested to read in last month's “Farming News” feature in you magazine, that farmers are taking new initiatives to market their products.

On a recent trip up the A303 I noticed that many farmers are now selling their own milk under a variety of “own brand” names, mostly emphasising the “naturalness” of their product. Perhaps farmers need an organisation to bring the benefits of local milk to the attention of their potential customers such as the excellent CAMRA has done for Real Ale.

When thinking of a suitable local brand name, it occurred to me that, as the best milk comes from the upper part of the refrigerated bulk storage unit why not bottle it as “Tank-Top”?
