Book review, by Sue Lander

This month, I'm reviewing heaps of books by one American author namely Sue Grafton. She has created a female private detective called Kinsey Millhone who stars in the ‘alphabet novels’. Thus “A is for Alibi”, “B is for Burglar”, “C is for Corpse” etc..

The books have a basic core of characters and themes involved in various murders and mysteries. They are easy books to read and are, therefore, ideal for bedtime reading without nightmares.

I'm not quite sure which letter she has got up to but I've got to “K is for Killer”. It is quite good fun to guess what she will call the other books and this is a game you could play in the pub, when conversation dries up, e.g. “Y is for Your Round” or “Y is for You Owe Me 33p”.

Sue Grafton obviously writes a book quicker than I can read them, but then , according to the biography of her, she is clearly a woman on a mission. She says ‘For months I lay in bed and plotted how to kill my ex-husband. But I knew I'd bungle it and get caught, so I wrote it in a book instead.’ Gulp!

Best stay in America Sue.

Happy Reading
