The end of the year was marked with a very successful Christmas Bazaar in the Sunday School Room. Our thanks to all those who gave items for the draw and stalls and of course to those who came to buy. We took over £140.
The evening's carol singing around the village turned out to be a very cold, wet evening and was cut short by a sudden hail storm. Despite the weather a cheque for £32.20 was sent to Northam Lodge from the kind donations of those who opened their doors to hear us sing.
The Guides saw in the New Millennium by sending their own greetings to the Guides of the Czech Republic using Bradworthy's computer. Several Guides have taken their proficiency badge in computing and it is hoped that we shall be able to use this means of communicating with Guides from other parts of the world during the forthcoming year.
The first meeting of the new millennium was an evening of achievements with the presentation of swimming badges and computer badges to nearly every Guide.
Guide meetings continue on Wednesday evenings in the Youth Room at the back of the Memorial Hall between 7 and 9 p.m.
