Church Gift Day

According to tradition, one day every two years the Vicar sits in church from 10.00am until 5.00pm and this is an opportunity for members of the village community to make a contribution towards the running of the church. The date set for this year is Saturday, October 16th. A letter is to be delivered to each house in the parish offering more details of the need, and answering one or two of the obvious questions people may ask.

Memorial Hall Lunch

Having been to several lunches already I am looking forward to attending the next one on Sunday, 24th October. The timings and details, I believe, are the same as usual so I won't interfere with the smooth running or the cooking. Just to say that on this occasion the amount raised is to be given to the church. This is a most kind gesture and sincerely appreciated.

Arnold the Christian Firework

Earlier this year I was appointed Children's Link Officer for the Holsworthy Deanery. This means certain responsibilities for encouraging work with children in the churches in this area. The service for children and young people at Bradworthy on Sunday 7th at 4.00pm, with a party in the Memorial Hall afterwards, is the first in a series of services in the Holsworthy Deanery. The next one is at Ashwater in the spring.

Although the service is for children and young people who normally attend this church and others in the area, there is an open invitation to all who might like to come along. At great expense (!), Arnold the Christian Firework is to make an appearance.

As ever, if ever I can help in any way, please do let me know.
