The Council has approached Westcountry TV asking that the local news from Barnstaple is available on both Huntshaw Cross and Carradon Hill transmitters. Those who cannot get Barnstaple local news may wish to make this fact known to Westcounty by writing direct to them. Westcountry's initial response suggested that those not receiving Barnstaple local news should realign their aerials. The Council considers this is an unsatisfactory reply and will continue to press for local coverage.
Torridge District Council is waiting for another delivery of 'Doggy Litter Bins' and Bradworthy's request for a bin may then be considered. Despite all appeals to dog owners there is no real improvement in the situation. There are indications that the dog warden is getting more feedback from Bradworthy recently. This will help him to more effectively monitor the area.
Torridge District Council has recently provided a new seat on The Broadhill and a new fixed litter bin beside the bus shelter in the Square.
A Community Garden is planned in Tuckers Park Offers of help to construct and maintain this garden will be gratefully received by Cllr. Angela Yeo.
The Results and Recommendations booklet has been published and copies distributed. The Council will be pleased to receive comments from parishioners.
The Torridge Transport Group announced in the local press that a Ring and Ride service for the Holsworthy area is planned to start on 21st September.
The North and East Devon Health Authority has been granted additional funds by the Department of Health to re-introduce a dental service in Holsworthy.
Torridge District Council reminded Parishioners that forms must be returned by 10th October.
Awards to local organisations payable after April 2000 were made. £200 Playing Field Committee; £150 Parish Church; £86 Langdon Charity; £50 each to The Wednesday Club, Girl Guides, Rainbows, Cubs, Beavers, Playgroup, Toddler Playgroup. Single donations were made to the Samaritans and to the Citizens Advice Bureau which had 59 enquiries from Bradworthy in the year.
The Council was concerned to be told of vehicles going onto the moor engaged in night-time shooting and also of other prohibited activities.
Councillors congratulated the organisers on another successful event. The Special Constable was thanked for his assistance. It was noted that there was less rowdiness after the event, due in part to the continued vigilance of local licenced premises.
A small but enthusiastic group attended the repeat session recently. The Ambulance Service suggested a follow up session next Spring.
Is open to public consultation until the 12th November. The Parish Council considers that the proposed recreational area off Mill Road and an Industrial estate by Lew Farm are wrongly sited and are not acceptable. There are better situations that would have more community support.
