Book review

“Blood Test” by Jonathan Kellerman

As you may remember in the August issue, I left you on page 65 of this book which was 'exciting and gory' and I expect you have all been waiting with bated breath to see whether it is worth paying £3.99 (second-hand) to read the rest. Well, keep your money in your pocket because it obviously peaks at page 65 and then descends into tedium. To be fair, page 306 had a few moments but all was lost when you turned the page.

“Jonathan Livingston Seagull” by Richard Bach

This little book is a joy. Lots of pictures and a wonderful story which you can read in ½ hour. Seagulls will take on a new meaning for you and you can have deep meaningful conversations in the local hostelry discussing the philosophical storyline. I did, indeed, read this book in the pub, with the added bonus of being so engrossed in the adventures of Jonathan, I inadvertently missed my round. So a really cheap night out.

Believe me, dear reader, you will want to spread your wings and fly!

Coming soon in the November issue

“Breakfast of Champions” by Kurt Vonnegut.

This book is from our own dear editors personal book collection, which he lent to me three years ago. (Yes Phil, it is three years ago. I am an expert in judging depths of dust.) Anyway, I am half way through it and I've obviously lost the plot along the way. However, I'll plod on and report back next time.

Happy reading.
