Harvest Festival

is being celebrated this year with a combined service on Sunday September 26th at 4.00pm with the Harvest Supper afterwards in the Church Hall. Living now in an area so closely involved with farming I am looking forward to sharing this special occasion with you. Please accept the invitation to attend the service in Bradworthy church and to share the supper afterwards.

New Hymn Books

In recent years a new hymn book has been published called Hymns Old and New. As the name suggests it has a rich selection of hymns written in recent years and many old favourites from the past. For example our present hymn book has only ten Christmas hymns whereas the new book has over thirty. It also includes hymns like The Old Rugged Cross, What a Friend we have in Jesus, Great is thy faithfulness and many others which have become firm favourites of the BBC Television programme Songs of Praise. The cost of each book is £ 5.25 with the publisher sending one extra book for each ten ordered. It is thought that many people might like to donate a book in memory of a loved one or to celebrate some special thanksgiving in life. The book would then be inscribed with the dedication. Application forms are on the table at the back of church. Please complete the form and pop it in the box nearby. No money yet please until the books have been ordered and delivered.

Thank you

Since moving to the village last year I have been genuinely moved by the kindness and generosity offered to the village church; The weekly congregation gives freely and raises money for the church housekeeping expenses such as heating, insurance and a contribution towards having a resident vicar in the parish, but maintaining the building would be impossible without your help. So sincere thanks for all contributions however great or small.

Welcome

The times and dates of Sunday worship are printed in this article and there is a warm welcome for all who come. There is a wonderful sense of community in this village and I amazed by the care and down-to-earth neighbourliness shown in this place. Having said that, if ever you think that I can help in any way please do not hesitate to contact me at the vicarage.
