Bradworthy News - August 1999

The Intracom project, by Mike Wade

The inaugural meeting of the Core Community Group of the IntraCom Project (Bradworthy) took place on the 8th July 1999. The group was formed to plan and manage a pilot project that has two main objectives, these being:

The Core Community Group will be directly responsible to the Hall Management Committee for the day-to-day running of the Information Centre and will liaise closely with the IntraCom Central Project Team in setting up and managing the web site. The group is made up as follows:

Chairman: Mike Wade
Secretary: Tarot Atkinson
Treasurer: Jill Dilnot
Publicity Officer: Tony Dilnot
Community Editor: Tony Harper
Members: Peter Austin, Jane Addy, Margaret Coles, Frank Tallamy, Enid Clarke, Shaun Heard, Rod Stevens and Janet Petherick.

It is likely that the group will seek to become a working sub-committee of the Memorial Hall Management Committee in the near future.

At the inaugural meeting and at a subsequent meeting of the Group, which took place on the 19th July, the following decisions were reached:

The following opening hours were agreed for the period 2-13 August:

Date Morning Afternoon Evening
Monday 2nd Open Day - 10am to 8pm
Wednesday 4th 2pm to 4pm 7pm to 9pm
Friday 6th 10am to 12 noon 2pm to 4pm
Monday 9th 10am to 12 noon 2pm to 4pm 7pm to 9pm
Wednesday 11th 10am to 12 noon 2pm to 4pm 7pm to 9pm
Friday 15th 10am to 12 noon 2pm to 4pm

The opening hours of the Centre after the 15th August will be published on the Memorial Hall Notice Board at the front of the building. During the first couple of weeks people visiting the Centre will be asked to state a preference for opening hours so that we can gradually adapt the open times to match demand.

Can you help?

Are you willing to act as a receptionist in the Information Centre? We do need more volunteers to staff the facility. Even a couple of hours a week would be greatly appreciated and you do not need to attend management meetings unless you wish to do so. All volunteers will be given basic training to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to do the job.

For more details of the project or to volunteer your services please contact Mike Wade Tele: 01409 241004.
