The trip was a great success. Thanks to Mick Clark and the football club, who put out teams to play us on Friday and Sunday - and another team to guide us around the hotspots of Bude on Saturday night - despite having 3 league and cup games on Saturday, we all had a great time. One of the boys broke his foot jumping naked into the river opposite the Strand Hotel and spent much of Saturday at Barnstaple Hospital, another discovered that Bude is not completely free of the oldest profession and several of us suffered alcoholic poisoning after drinking lethal mixtures in the Social Club, but we enjoyed the trip despite these unfortunate accidents. The games finished 3-1 to Brad and 5-5, the latter match clearly affected by the aforesaid alcoholic poisoning (on both sides, I'm pleased to say). We'd all like to come back, but mostly we'd like to see our new pals from Brad visit us in Goring next year.
