Bradworthy News - May 1999

Parish Council

Roads

Bradworthy Parish Councillors are still concerned at the rapidly deteriorating road surface on various sections of the Bradworthy to Holsworthy road. These concerns are to be passed to the North Devon Highways Committee and to the County & District Partnership Committee.

Village flower bed

The Council has approval for a flower bed around the village sign opposite Langdon Road sponsored by the Bowling Club.

Street Lighting

The authorities are to be reminded that additional lighting at Tuckers Park as agreed has not yet been provided.

First aid training (SWELLS)

This free 2 hours session is to take place on Tuesday 11th May at 7.30pm in the Memorial Hall. However, donations towards training equipment will be gratefully accepted. 18 people have already booked but there may be a few vacancies - Anyone interested in coming to this session should contact Paul Clarke on 241313 to find out what spaces are available.

Best Kept Village Competition

Please remember that judging takes place, unannounced during May & June. Last year judging was at the end of the first week in May. Bradworthy was awarded the Douet Bowl for the highest marks in Torridge. Be encouraged by this award and please make a community effort to retain it. Maybe we can set our sights on a main prize!

Next meeting

The first meeting of the new council is on Friday, 21st May
