Thanks to all who supported this event, especially Bob and Jennie Hudson for their hard work beforehand, to Alan and Lesley for their hospitality and to those who provided raffle prizes. The evening raised £75 towards the roof and tower restoration. Another quiz night has been arranged for Wednesday, March 10th. All welcome.
I am gradually finding my, way around the parish and meeting some lovely people. If anyone would like an informal or confidential chat, or if you think that I may be able to help in any way, or there is anyone in hospital that you would like me to visit, please do let me know at the Vicarage on 241411.
Amazing to think that the Christian faith has for its foundation a day so tragic as that first Good Friday. Everyone, from time to time, must feel that same sense of rejection and loss and alienation from God. Yet the message we may carry from Good Friday is that God is with us, even in the darkest moments of life and even when we can't feel his love.
In time, the friends and family of Jesus found new life, and this is celebrated in the Christian church on Easter Sunday. In our Holy Week and Easter worship we try to experience these extreme and contrasting emotions of life.
St. Francis wrote a prayer for this good news to come
.... where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy'.
