Switch on to Renewable Energy with SWEB

With the opening up of competition in the domestic electricity market, SWEB has launched it's new "Green Electron" scheme. Customers who want to support the development of renewable energy sources such as gas produced in landfill sites or through sewage treatment, hydro or windpower can now do so very easily by choosing to pay a very small quarterly premium to SWEB. Money generated by these premiums will be invested in such energy production so that it can be produced more efficiently and cheaply in the future.

SWEB will contribute towards the administrative costs of the scheme in order to ensure that the premium you pay is used to support existing and new renewable energy generation. All "Green Electron" customers will receive an annual statement detailing how their money has been used. For only a few pounds, you will be helping to reduce the atmospheric buildup of carbon dioxide, the "greenhouse gas" which is produced from burning fossil fuels like coal and oil. It's got to be worth it!
