The united Carol service was held in the Church. The Church was filled to capacity with people standing in all available spaces. The Rector was ill and unable to be present. The churchwarden Mr. G. Martin took the service and also read. Other readers were Andrew Fry, Tessa Tregeare, Mrs. R. Beat, Mrs. E. Guy, Mrs. L. Dawe, Mr. W. Ashton. The schoolchildren also sang and did Nativity scenes with Katie and Janine Taylor reading. The choir also sang special items. The organist was Malcolm Woodcock.
Instead of the December monthly meeting, members of the WI went to the North Devon College, Barnstaple, for a Christmas lunch. Afterwards they went on to St. John's Garden Centre. The January meeting of the WI was held at Dunstaple by kind invitation of Mrs. M. Martin. Members were shown a video on flower decorating. A competition for the prettiest Christmas card was won by Mrs. W. Taylor. Flower of the month won by Mrs. W. Taylor. The annual dinner was at Cordam Farm, Jacobstowe. Twenty one people enjoyed an excellent meal. The prizes for most points gained during the year were presented to Mrs. M. Martin, Mrs. K. Stevens, and Mrs. J. Wooldridge.
A whist drive was held at Nicholls Colscott in aid of church funds. There were seven tables in play and also a draw. Approximately £40 profit was made.
